Irgendwo in Kanada: Der neunjährige Phin hat es nicht leicht.
Die Scheidung seiner Eltern läuft auf Hochtouren, der Vater reist
pausenlos durchs ferne Europa, Klassenrowdy Lyle hat ihn schwer
auf dem Kieker, und als ob das nicht schon genug wäre, nervt ihn
auch noch Psychologe Dr. Barrett, zu dem ihn seine besorgte Mutter
geschickt hat, da sie seine größte Leidenschaft , den Schutz von Tier
und Natur, für zu extrem hält. Phins Traum ist ein Planet, auf dem
Menschen und Tiere friedlich zusammenleben – und dafür tut
Phin alles, was in seiner Macht steht. Als ein Frosch aus Australien
in einem kleinen Aquarium in seiner Schule festgehalten wird und
dieser off enbar an Heimweh und Einsamkeit leidet, entwickelt
Phin mithilfe seines besten Freundes Bird einen Plan, der sich
gewaschen hat.
